The Inspiration
While a Hawaiian-inspired fragrance often leans toward the literal—bright florals and tropical fruits—we chose a different path. We found ourselves drawn to the archipelago’s more enigmatic soul: the raw power of active volcanoes on islands anchored in a vast, midnight ocean.
Our Vision
With aka’ula, we sought to capture Hawaii under a night sky, illuminated by the distant, glow of Kīlauea. We layered darker accords of leathery smoke and ancient resins, then balanced that heat with crisp marine ozone, dry spice, and the verdant freshness of distilled pineapple leaves. Despite its assertive character, aka’ula is easy to wear with a surprising, luminous elegance. It is our most audacious composition—designed for those who seek a scent that is as sophisticated as it is primal.
Origin of name: From the Hawaiian meaning, “red sunset”.
“You are going to love this fragrance.”
